Mexico‘s Caribbean coast has captured two of golf’s most coveted international honors, with PGA Riviera Maya defending its title as the best golf course in Mexico. At the same time, Tulum Country Club earned recognition as Latin America‘s top golf residential development at the World Golf Awards 2025 ceremony held at the Savoy Palace in Funchal, Madeira.

The Robert Trent Jones II-designed PGA Riviera Maya secured the title of Mexico’s Best Golf Course for the second straight year, building on its reputation as a tournament-caliber layout that has hosted the Korn Ferry Tour’s Tulum Championship and the 2025 Women’s Amateur Latin America Championship, co-organized by The R&A and the Annika Foundation.

The 7,200-yard, par-72 course winds through mangroves, cenotes, and tropical jungle, incorporating the region’s natural limestone formations and underground rivers into its strategic design.

The Best Golf Course in Mexico (With Residences)

Tulum Country Club‘s recognition as the Best Golf Residential Development in Latin America 2025 reflects the community’s rapid growth to more than 900 residences, housing 2,700 international residents. The development operates both a Real Madrid Foundation Educational Football Program and a PGA Academy certified by the PGA of America, creating a sports-focused community that extends beyond golf.

“This recognition validates our strategy of offering international buyers and visitors an alternative to traditional beach tourism,” said Álvaro Moya, general manager of Tulum Country Club. “We’re actively contributing to the Riviera Maya’s evolution as a destination for sports tourism and real estate investment throughout Mexico and the Caribbean.”

Both properties fall under the Real Estate & Golf division of Grupo Piñero, the Spanish hospitality company that also manages PGA Ocean’s 4 in the Dominican Republic, which was proclaimed as the Best Golf Course in the Dominican Republic 2025 at the same ceremony. This triple win across two Caribbean nations demonstrates the company’s expanding influence in Latin American golf development.

The World Golf Awards

Now in its 12th year, the World Golf Awards determines winners through votes from golf industry professionals, specialized media, and players worldwide. The two-day Madeira event culminates in the awards ceremony recognizing excellence across golf destinations, hotels, courses, tour operators, and golf-related services globally.

PGA Riviera Maya’s back-to-back victories place it among an elite group of Mexican courses that have won multiple international awards.

The course’s cenote-lined 10th hole has become one of the most photographed golf holes in Mexico, while its practice facility includes a double-ended driving range and dedicated short game area spanning 15 acres.

Tulum Country Club encompasses 1,500 acres and features an 18-hole championship course alongside its residential communities. The development includes a 30,000-square-foot clubhouse, tennis courts, swimming pools, and a beach club on the Caribbean Sea, located 15 minutes from the main property.
